History of Roulette

The history of roulette is very interesting because its creation was unintentional. Blaise Pascal, a French mathematician and philosopher, accidently created the first roulette wheel in 1655 during his attempt to build a perpetual motion machine. Blasie was involved in many profound contributions to sciences, so it was ironic that he was responsible for inventing roulette. The game did undergo slight modifications in the next century, but amazingly, throughout the history of roulette, the game has been played the same way since it was in Paris, 1796.

Roulette spread throughout casinos in Europe and the United States during the 1800’s. Roulette history was only slightly modified in 1843 by a pair of French brothers, Francois and Louis Blanc, who introduced a wheel with a single “0,” as opposed to the standard double “0.” Their version became most popular except in America, where the double zero was better received. After French immigrants brought the game to New Orleans, it made its way up the Mississippi and then west. Today there are only slight differences between the French and American styles.

Roulette is an exciting game that can be found in casinos around the world and on the internet. Online roulette history only dates back to the mid-1990’s but it is operated the same way as in a casino and it is easy to find for those interested in internet gambling.
